Psychiatry
The Department of Psychiatry is a unique place to be at a time when psychiatry as a specialty has increasingly more and more to offer individuals suffering from psychiatric disorders.
The department is the only psychiatry department in the nation shared between an allopathic and an osteopathic medical school. It's one of only three psychiatry departments nationwide to be accredited for residency education by both the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Osteopathic Association.
The department is among the 20 percent of departments across the United States with a community-based residency program and is nationally recognized for the numbers of residency graduates who work in public sector psychiatry after graduation.
