Donor Societies
The College of Human Medicine has instituted its own giving societies in order to encourage our alumni and friends. Each of these societies has special premiums available only through gifts to the College at the levels described below.
Hippocrates Circle
Hippocrates is perhaps history's most famous physician. By rejecting superstition in favor of scientific observation, by classifying diseases, and by creating a set of moral and professional standards for physicians, he earned the title of "Father of Medicine." He also gave the world the Hippocratic Oath, a code of ethics for physicians which is still taken by graduates at many modern medical schools.
This giving society thanks donors who contribute $250 to $499 to the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in a calendar year.

Galen Circle
Galen was the originator of the experimental method in medical investigation and throughout his life dissected animals in his quest to understand how the body functions. He also recommended that other doctors practice dissection as a means of discovery, as well as to improve surgical skills. Galen's most lasting technique, one that survived his discreditation during the Renaissance, is the taking of the pulse that is still done by doctors to this day.
